"How can I help people to a greater extent?" -- that is a question that rings in my head. In a world where there’s constant “noise” and input, how do we navigate the ebbs and flows of life?
Ever since I was young, my friends would confide in me. I had been deemed a “good listener” and enjoyed the fact that people would trust me enough to open up and be vulnerable with me. That is something I have and never will take for granted. I had always been an advocate for mental health, but it wasn’t until I was in university that I truly experienced the difference counselling can make in your life. My counsellor helped me to find and explore ways to experience my emotions in a more manageable way; her kindness was so needed, and I still reflect on our sessions to this day. Those sessions impacted my life, and I am hoping to be able to do the same for you.
As a counsellor, I aspire to create the preconditions for effective healing - a safe space for people to share their deepest traumas and sorrows without fear, shame or guilt. Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person.
